Transaid work with local partners, particularly in Africa, to improve the way that transport is managed. This gives people better access to basic services like healthcare and opens up opportunities for people to make a living, and it can mean anything from helping a village set up and run a bicycle trailer ambulance service, to practical training for commercial drivers. Road safety will be a bigger cause of death and disability than war and HIV/AIDS by 2020, according to World Health Organisation predictions.
DOT have designed the Transaid web site to reach a far wider audience of partners, and to communicate Transaid's messages far more effectively and this was evident even in the first week after launch with a dramatically improved visitation rate. In the spirit of self-sufficiency, Transaid staff have been provided with content management tools and training that help them keep their messages current and persuasive.
